Cleaning your Mighty Mouse

My Scroll Ball Stopped Working!  What Gives?

Eventually, all good things come to an end.  In this case, its your skin cells.  Periodically, the scroll ball on your Mighty Mouse can get clogged with the oil and dead skin from your fingers and stop working.  (I find its most common for the ball to stop going down.)

When this happens, don’t panic, simply turn the mouse over and scrub the ball on the top of your desk.  This assumes, of course, that your desk is cleaner than your mouse, if not, put a clean, lint-free towel down first.

A nice scrub should return the Mighty Mouse to its original Mighty state, if not, you may need to take it in to see a Genius or replace the device if its out of warranty.

If the Mighty Mouse becomes covered in gunk and you need to clean it, either use a slightly damp lint free towel or pick up a bottle of iKlear.  Remember to always spray the cleaner on the cloth, not the device, to prevent injecting liquids into the inner workings of the Mouse.
